The meeting of Economic Development Advisory Committee of the Town of Fort Frances was held in the Committee Room, Civic Centre on March 5, 2018 from 11:36 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. |

4.1 | January 8th, 2018.

| McBride-Cumming: THAT the minutes from the January 8th, 2018 regular meeting be approved as distributed. CARRIED |
5. | New Business |
5.1 | Rainy Lake Square. - Tannis advised that she has reached out to the BIA, Museum, schools and Non-Profit organizations to obtain ideas for the utilization of the Square. She advised she has had good outreach response. - she is still committed to using the square Thursday evenings from May through September for the Rainy Lake Series, movie nights, etc. - bookings will go through the Memorial Sports Centre booking system. - Committee provided the following ideas for usage: Church choirs, garage bands, car clubs, Sister Kennedy Centre involvement, i.e. Tai Chi, Food books (Markets are likely to have theme days.) Members also suggested a social media blitz.

5.2 | Project Petunia. - Tannis advised that as of today, there are only 15 baskets left for sponsorship. Please contact her directly is you are interested.

5.3 | Enhanced Sustainable Forestry License (ESFL). - Tannis advised this a slow complicated process. Mr. Willick will be invited back to EDAC in the next couple of months to further update.

6. | Non-agenda Items |
6.1 | J. Cumming - Trees - Mr. Cumming advised that he met with both the Town's Operations and Facilities and Planning and Development Executive Committees and had very successful discussions about trees. He was happy with the recommendations arising from these meeting. - the Town will be undertaking a complete audit of the tree canopy for the municipality.

6.2 | D. Fortes - Issues at Rainy Crest Home for the Aged. - A discussion was had about the significant issues which have been plaguing Rainy Crest as of late. K. Perry advised that Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc. took the home over and there was never sufficient money granted from the Ministry of Health to run it properly. Issues around patient care and lack of workers to provide adequate care were discussed. Staff are not provided with adequate resources or time to give a sufficient level of patient care. K. McCaig advised that from an Ontario Works perspective, there is an issue try to find Health Care Workers (PSW) and more recently workers are being brought in from Jamaica. Tannis will draft a letter to ask the hospital to consider holding a public meeting to discuss the issues. The Council Chambers will be offered for such a use.

6.3 | T. Drysdale/G. Gillon - EDCO Awards - Tannis advised that she and Geoff travelled to Toronto on February 7th, 2018, as the Town and RRFDC were pleased to receive recognition from the Economic Developers Council of Ontario for the following awards: 1) Branding - Promotions Awards for "Fort Frances Boundless" Recipient - Town of Fort Frances; 2) Physical Infrastructure and Redevelopment Initiatives: Planning and Building Initiatives for "Rainy Lake Square" Recipient: Town of Fort Frances; 3) Pubic - Private Partnership: Collaboration & Partnership Awards for "Go Local Fort Frances" Recipient: Rainy River Future Development Corporation. Each award was received under the 0-10,000 population category.
