About:

Mike Behan moved to Fort Frances in June of 1987 to become the sports reporter at the Fort Frances Times.  He took over as editor on May 1, 1990 - a position he has held ever since.  He is married to his wife Cheryl for 27 years and has a grown stepson, Nathan, who lives north of Devlin with his wife Kate and their daughter Sloan.

Mike always has been active in the community.  He first sat on the Fort Frances Museum & Cultural Centre board and then on the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce board for a number of years in the mid to late 1990s, including serving one term as president.  He also sat on the Muskie Touchdown club and volunteered for the Fort Frances Aquanauts while Nathan played high school football and was a swimmer.

Most recently, Mike has been president of the Fort Frances Bowling Club for the past four years and currently is in the middle of a two-year term as President of the Sunset Country 5 pin Bowling Association, which includes clubs in Fort Frances, Dryden, Kenora and Balmertown.  Mike curled three seasons when he first moved to town but his real passion is bowling.  He enjoys bowling in the local Thursday night league and also competes at the zone and Provincial level.  He has won five Provincial medals in all since 2012 - two individually (one gold and one silver), as well as two as a member of the Sunset Country men's team (silver and bronze) and one as a member of the Sunset Country mixed team (bronze).

Mike is looking forward to his new challenge as a town councillor, with the goal of helping to make Fort Frances an even better community for all.
